Nara Organics has voluntarily recalled all lots of its powdered infant formula currently on the market due to a potential risk of contamination with Clostridium botulinum, the bacterium that can cause infant botulism, a rare but potentially life-threatening illness.

The recall follows notification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding three reported cases of infant botulism in babies who had consumed Nara formula. The infants, located in California, Washington, and Pennsylvania, were hospitalized and treated with BabyBIG® (Botulism Immune Globulin Intravenous). No deaths have been reported.

Infant botulism occurs when C. botulinum spores colonize an infant’s digestive system and produce harmful neurotoxins. Symptoms may include constipation, poor feeding, drooping eyelids, weak crying, low muscle tone, difficulty swallowing, breathing problems, and generalized weakness.

Recalled Products

  • Nara Organics Whole Milk Infant Formula, 700g
    • UPC: 860013251901
  • Nara Organics Whole Milk Infant Formula, 400g
    • UPC: 860013251918

All lots currently available on the market are included in the recall. The products were distributed nationwide in the United States through Target retail stores, Target.com, and Nara.com between July 2025 and June 2026.

The three lots linked to the reported illnesses are:

  • 709125280E14F2
  • 709125288E14F2
  • 708125174E14F2

Although testing has not confirmed the presence of Clostridium botulinum in Nara formula, the company has initiated the recall as a precautionary measure while investigations continue.

Consumer Advice

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled infant formula. Parents and caregivers whose infants have consumed the product and are experiencing symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, poor feeding, drooping eyelids, or weak crying should seek medical attention immediately.

Nara Organics is offering refunds to affected customers and is working closely with the FDA, CDC, and state health authorities to investigate the reported cases and determine the root cause.

The company stated that it remains committed to transparency and consumer safety throughout the ongoing investigation.
