Dongwon Fried Bean Curd has been recalled across New Zealand because the product contains egg, milk and sesame that are not declared on the label, posing a risk to consumers with allergies or intolerances.
Emart Company Limited recalled Dongwon Fried Bean Curd (340g) on 11 September 2026 after it was found that the product did not adequately declare the presence of egg, milk and sesame.
The product was imported from South Korea and sold at ethnic grocery stores throughout New Zealand.
The recall does not affect any other Dongwon brand products.
The presence of undeclared egg, milk and sesame is a significant food safety concern for people with allergies or intolerances to these ingredients.
Eating food containing an allergen can trigger an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. Symptoms may include hives, itching, swelling, stomach pain, vomiting, breathing difficulties and, in severe cases, anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction.
Consumers who are not allergic or intolerant to egg, milk or sesame are not affected by this recall.
People with an egg, milk or sesame allergy or intolerance should not eat the recalled product.

The product has not been re-exported from New Zealand, according to New Zealand Food Safety.
