Gatorade Recall Hits 37 U.S. States Over Undeclared Food Dyes

More than 122,000 cases of Gatorade have been recalled across 37 U.S. states after the products were found to contain Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6 that were not declared on the label.

The recall affects several popular Gatorade varieties, including Lemon Lime, Lemon Lime Zero, Orange and Orange Zero.

Products recalled

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall involves 122,021 cases of 28-ounce Gatorade bottles.

Affected varieties include:

  1. Gatorade Lemon Lime
  2. Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero
  3. Gatorade Orange
  4. Gatorade Orange Zero

The products contain Yellow No. 5 and/or Yellow No. 6, which were not properly declared on the product labels.

Recall classified as Class II

PepsiCo voluntarily initiated the recall on September 25, 2026, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall on October 2.

A Class II recall is used when exposure to a product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or when the likelihood of serious health consequences is considered remote.

The recall remains ongoing, and the FDA has not issued a separate press release for the action.

Distributed across 37 states

The recalled Gatorade was distributed across 37 U.S. states, including:

  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania
  • Florida
  • Texas
  • North Carolina
  • California

Consumers can identify affected products by checking the lot numbers listed in the FDA recall notice.
