Chocolate candy sold nationwide has been linked to a high-risk food recall after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated its enforcement report regarding undeclared allergens in a popular confectionery product.
The recall involves Nuts.com Espresso Malted Milk Balls, which were originally recalled on March 10, 2026. According to the FDA, approximately 10,190 pounds of the product were affected.
The recalled candies were sold in:
SKU Number: 5106-01
The FDA stated the product contained undeclared wheat and soy allergens, including soy lecithin, which were not properly declared on the ingredient label.
Wheat and soy are classified among the FDA’s major food allergens and can trigger severe allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
The FDA classified the recall as a Class I recall, its most serious category. A Class I designation indicates there is a reasonable probability that consuming the product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death in people with allergies to the undeclared ingredients.
The affected products were reportedly distributed throughout the United States.
Although the recall received its Class I designation on March 26, the FDA recently included the event again in its enforcement report issued on May 11, 2026. The agency has marked the recall as “completed.”
At present, there have been no publicly confirmed reports of illnesses or allergic reactions linked to the recalled candies.
As of May 12, the product remained listed on their website but was marked “out of stock until May 26.” The updated ingredient list on the website now includes wheat, soy, and soy lecithin.
Consumers with wheat or soy allergies are advised:
Food manufacturers are required to clearly declare allergenic ingredients on labels to help protect consumers with food allergies from potentially life-threatening reactions.
