The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for a ready-to-eat beef jerky product due to misbranding and an undeclared wheat allergen.
The affected product, STREET’S BEEF Jerky Teriyaki Flavor, contains wheat, a major food allergen that is not declared on the product label. Consumption of the product may cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions in individuals with a wheat allergy or sensitivity.
Although no recall has been requested because the product is no longer available for sale, FSIS is concerned that consumers may still have the product in their homes.
The affected beef jerky was produced on various dates between August 7, 2025, and July 1, 2026, and was distributed to three retail locations in Oklahoma: Bordwine Hay, Feed & Hardware, Grassroots Farm Store, and Bromide Trading Co.
The labeling issue was identified during a routine FSIS label review. To date, no confirmed illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the product have been reported.
Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised not to consume it and should discard it or return it to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about a possible allergic reaction should contact a healthcare provider.
Reason for Alert: Undeclared wheat (allergen) due to misbranding.
Consumer Advice: Do not consume the product. Discard it or return it to the place of purchase.
