In a major food safety operation, the Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) of Gujarat has seized 17,200 kg of adulterated ghee worth over ₹1 crore from Shri Raj Rajeshwari Dairy Products in Patan. The firm’s license has been suspended, and further investigations are underway.
On March 10, 2025, FDCA officials conducted a raid at the B-1 and B-21 units of Shri Raj Rajeshwari Dairy Products in Parth Estate, Patan. The responsible person, Modi Rakeshbhai Mukeshbhai, failed to appear at the premises despite being summoned, prompting officials to seal the godown and hand it over to the police.
During the inspection, 11 samples were collected for further testing to confirm suspicions of adulteration. Based on preliminary findings and violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the FDCA took immediate action, suspending the firm’s license.
In a related operation, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has seized over 1,000 kg of suspicious cream from Shiv Shambhu Dairy Products in Naroda. Officials suspect the cream was manufactured using milk powder, palm oil, and vegetable oil to produce adulterated ghee. Samples have been sent for laboratory testing, and further action will be taken based on the results.
Authorities urge consumers to be cautious and verify the source of their dairy products. Adulterated ghee poses serious health risks, including digestive issues and long-term illnesses. Consumers who have purchased ghee from Shri Raj Rajeshwari Dairy Products or Shiv Shambhu Dairy Products should refrain from using it and report any suspicious products to the FDCA.
The FDCA has reiterated its commitment to ensuring food safety and strict enforcement of food laws. More inspections and crackdowns are expected in the coming weeks to curb food adulteration across Gujarat.
