NC meat company recalls 150,000 pounds of products over fake USDA inspection marks :: WRAL.com

More than 83 tons of raw pork, beef and goat products have been recalled in the United States after they were produced without federal inspection and packaged with a false USDA mark of inspection.

Star Meat Delivery Inc. of Lucama, North Carolina, is recalling approximately 167,639 pounds of meat products produced on various dates before September 22, 2026. The recall was announced by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The affected products were distributed in bulk under the A&D Foods label and shipped to a distributor in Georgia for further distribution to retail stores and restaurants nationwide.

Food Safety Risk

The recalled products were produced without federal inspection, meaning they were not subject to the required federal inspection process.

FSIS warned that food produced without inspection may contain harmful bacteria, undeclared allergens or other contaminants that could pose risks to consumers.

There have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury associated with the recalled products.

Recalled Products

The recall includes various raw pork, beef and goat products, including:

  1. Goat cuts and goat burn skin-on cuts
  2. Beef ribeye slices
  3. Beef chuck and oxtail
  4. Beef short ribs and beef feet
  5. Pork ground meat
  6. Pork chorizo
  7. Pork chops
  8. Pork feet and pork hock
  9. Pork rib pieces
  10. Pork Boston butt and Boston slices
  11. Menudo mix
  12. Various other beef, pork and goat cuts

The products were vacuum-sealed and packed in cardboard boxes for shipment. Individual packages may not carry the original labeling because retail stores may have applied their own price labels.

False Inspection Mark

The products bear a false establishment number “EST. 1363.” According to FSIS, this establishment number does not have a federal grant of inspection.

Any product bearing the false establishment number should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers should not eat any of the recalled products. Retailers and restaurants should not sell or serve them.

Anyone who has purchased the affected meat should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. Consumers who are concerned about a possible illness or injury after consuming the products should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS said it may update the recall information and product list as additional information becomes available.
