Khong Guan Corporation has expanded its earlier food recall to include an additional glutinous rice ball product after discovering that the affected products may contain undeclared peanuts. The recall was announced on July 15, 2026, and affects products sold across multiple U.S. states through retail stores and online.
Peanuts are a major food allergen, and consuming these products could cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions in individuals with peanut allergies or severe sensitivities.
The recall was initiated after a customer reported the suspected presence of peanuts in Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling. Following an investigation, the company expanded the recall to include Black & White Glutinous Rice Balls with Black Sesame Filling, as both products may contain undeclared peanut allergens.
The products were distributed in packaging that did not list peanuts on the ingredient label, posing a significant health risk to allergic consumers.
The affected products were distributed between June 2, 2026, and July 8, 2026 through retail stores and online retailers in the following U.S. states:
Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Jersey, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, and Washington.
People with peanut allergies or severe peanut sensitivity should not consume these products. Exposure to peanuts may trigger symptoms ranging from mild allergic reactions to anaphylaxis, a potentially fatal medical emergency requiring immediate treatment.
No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported in connection with the recalled products as of the recall announcement.
