A popular non-alcoholic grapefruit mixer has been recalled from major supermarkets and liquor stores nationwide due to unintended fermentation, which may cause the bottles to explode.

The affected product, Salted Grapefruit by StrangeLove, is sold in 180ml and 540ml bottles at retailers including Coles, Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s, BWS, First Choice, Liquorland, and Vintage Cellars.

According to the recall notice, the unintended fermentation process inside the bottle has led to excessive carbonation, increasing pressure that could result in bottle breakage or popping caps, posing a risk of injury to consumers. Additionally, the fermentation process converts sugars into alcohol, which could potentially cause illness in consumers.
