Hy-Vee, Inc., headquartered in West Des Moines, Iowa, has announced a voluntary recall of two varieties of its Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread and bulk-packaged Cookies & Cream Mix. This recall comes as a precautionary measure due to the potential contamination with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The affected products, manufactured at various third-party facilities across the Midwest, are sold under HyVee’s private label and bulk packaging programs. Hy-Vee initiated the recall after being informed by the manufacturers of the potential issue. The recalled items were distributed to Hy-Vee, Hy-Vee Drugstore, Dollar Fresh Market locations, and Hy-Vee Fast and Fresh convenience stores across eight states.

The recalled products include:

  • Hy-Vee Whipped Cream Cheese Spread – 8 oz.
  • Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread – 12 oz.
  • Hy-Vee To Go Cookies & Cream Mix – 4 oz. (Multiple lot numbers)
  • Hy-Vee Cookies & Cream Mix – 16 oz. (Multiple lot numbers)

Consumers are urged not to consume the recalled products and to either dispose of them or return them to their local Hy-Vee store for a full refund. Salmonella infection can cause serious health issues, particularly in vulnerable groups such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Hy-Vee has taken proactive measures by removing all affected items from its shelves. Customers with inquiries can contact Hy-Vee Customer Care representatives for assistance.
