Gellert Global Group has recalled ALDI Brand Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi & Tofu Kimbap because the product may contain undeclared tuna (fish), posing a serious health risk to consumers with fish allergies.
According to the company, the affected product was distributed through select ALDI stores in Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Delaware, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, and West Virginia.
The recalled product is sold in an 8.1-ounce sealed, microwave-safe plastic package with a “Best If Used By” date of October 8, 2027.
The recall was initiated after a consumer discovered that a fish-containing product had been packaged without disclosing the presence of tuna on the label. An internal investigation determined that the issue resulted from a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging procedures, which has since been corrected.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product.
Consumers who have purchased the affected Fusia Asian Inspirations Kimchi & Tofu Kimbap are urged not to consume it if they have a fish allergy or sensitivity. The product should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Reason for Recall: Undeclared tuna (fish) allergen.
Health Risk: Consumers with a fish allergy or severe sensitivity may experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if the product is consumed.
