HiPP Organic UK has issued a recall for its 7+ months Vegetable Lasagne (190g jar) after identifying an allergen labelling error that could pose a health risk to infants with specific allergies.
The recall, updated on 24 April 2026, was announced due to the presence of celeriac (a form of celery) in the product, which has not been properly emphasised on the label as required under allergen labelling regulations. While the ingredient is present, the failure to highlight it (typically in bold) means consumers may overlook it, increasing the risk for those with celery allergies.
The affected product is widely marketed as a baby food option suitable for infants aged seven months and above. No other products from HiPP Organic UK are reported to be impacted by this issue.
According to the Food Standards Agency, undeclared or improperly labelled allergens are among the most common reasons for food recalls, as they can lead to serious or even life-threatening reactions in sensitive individuals.
Parents and caregivers are advised to check any purchased jars against the batch details. If the product matches the recall criteria and the child has a celery allergy, it should not be consumed. Instead, customers should contact HiPP Organic UK’s customer service team for a refund or further guidance.
Retailers have been instructed to remove the affected batch from shelves and display point-of-sale notices to inform customers about the recall and necessary actions.
This incident highlights the critical importance of clear and compliant allergen labelling, particularly in infant foods where vulnerable populations are involved.
