The August Egg Company, based in Hilmar, California, has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 1.7 million dozen eggs following concerns over potential Salmonella Enteritidis contamination. This pathogen poses significant health risks, particularly to young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
The affected products include brown cage-free and certified organic eggs, distributed between February 3, 2025, and May 15, 2025, with sell-by dates ranging from March 4 to June 19, 2025. These eggs were sold at numerous major retail chains including Walmart, Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Smart & Final, Safeway, Raley’s, Food 4 Less, and Ralphs across California, Nevada, Arizona, Washington, New Mexico, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, and Wyoming.
The recalled cartons are identifiable by plant codes P-6562 or CA-5330 and Julian Dates 032–126, printed on the packaging.
