Westside Sauce has recalled its Peanut Thai sauce after the product was found to be affected by spoilage, which may impact its quality and make it unsuitable for consumption.
The recall was announced on 23 July 2026 and affects products sold online as well as in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.
The recall has been issued due to spoilage, a form of non-harmful microbial contamination that can cause the product to deteriorate in quality. While the contamination is not considered harmful to health, spoiled food may develop unpleasant odors, off-flavors, discoloration, texture changes, or swelling of the packaging, making it unfit for consumption.
The recall applies to Westside Sauce Peanut Thai (237 ml) with UPC 6 27987 67780 5, Best Before date 05/02/2028, and Lot 351.
Consumers and retailers should check whether they have the affected product. The recalled sauce should not be used, sold, served, or distributed.
Anyone who has purchased the affected product is advised not to consume it. The product should be discarded safely or returned to the retailer where it was purchased, in accordance with the retailer’s return policy.
Food spoilage occurs when microorganisms or other factors cause a product to lose its freshness and quality. Although spoilage organisms are generally not harmful to human health, consuming spoiled food can result in an unpleasant eating experience and, in some cases, mild digestive discomfort.
Consumers should avoid eating foods that show signs of spoilage, including unusual odors, mold growth, leaking or swollen packaging, or changes in taste, color, or texture.
The recall was initiated after the affected Westside Sauce Peanut Thai was found to be spoiled. Food safety authorities are monitoring the recall to help ensure the affected product is removed from the marketplace and to prevent further distribution.
