
Newway Import Inc., based in La Puente, California, has issued a recall of its “Preserved Mustard in Soybean Oil” due to the presence of undeclared wheat, according to an announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recalled product is sold under the Cai Hua Xiang brand. People with a wheat allergy or severe sensitivity may face the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the product contained wheat, which was not declared on the product’s labeling, making it unsafe for consumers with wheat allergies.
No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.
Consumers who have purchased the affected product are advised to stop using it immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
