A food recall has been issued in New Zealand for Tian Xiao Hua Potato Noodles (268 g) after the presence of undeclared gluten and wheat was identified. The recall was initiated by Buyoned Trading NZ Limited on 22 April 2026 and updated on 23 April 2026 to include additional retailers across Wellington and the South Island.
The affected product, sold in a red plastic pouch, includes all batches and all date codes. It was imported from China and distributed through various ethnic grocery stores across Auckland, Wellington, and several South Island locations such as Christchurch, Queenstown, and Dunedin. The product has not been re-exported.
This recall is particularly important for individuals with gluten intolerance or wheat allergies, as consumption could lead to adverse health effects. Undeclared allergens remain one of the leading causes of global food recalls, highlighting gaps in labeling compliance and supply chain oversight.
Retailers who have sold the product are required to remove it from shelves and display a recall notice in-store for a period of one month to inform consumers.
For further information, customers can contact Buyoned Trading NZ Limited via phone at 022 630 9071 or email at buyonedtradingnz@gmail.com.
This incident reinforces the importance of strict allergen labeling regulations and continuous monitoring by food safety authorities to ensure consumer protection.
