The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a nationwide recall of nine potato chip products manufactured by Utz Quality Foods due to possible contamination with Salmonella. The affected products were sold under the popular Zapp’s and Dirty brand names across retail stores in the United States.

The recall was initiated after one of Utz’s third-party ingredient suppliers, California Dairies, Inc., recalled milk powder that may have been contaminated with Salmonella. According to the company, the milk powder was used in seasoning blends for select potato chip products.

Although no illnesses or consumer complaints have been reported so far, the company has issued the recall as a precautionary measure to protect public health.

  • Zapp’s Salt and Vinegar Potato Chips
  • Zapp’s Big Cheezy Potato Chips

  • Dirty Sour Cream and Onion Potato Chips

The affected products were sold in different pack sizes and can be identified through their UPC codes, “Best By” dates, and batch codes listed on the packaging.

Health Risk Associated with Salmonella

Salmonella is a harmful bacterium that can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems.

Common symptoms of Salmonella infection include:

  • Stomach cramps
