A popular vegan protein snack has been recalled across Canada after it was found to contain milk that is not declared on the label, posing a potential health risk to people with a milk allergy or sensitivity.

The Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored is being removed from the marketplace following concerns over the undeclared allergen.

The recalled product is Smarter Snacks Vegan Protein Puff Chili & Lime Flavored, sold in a 50 g package.

The affected product has UPC 8 684041 306837 and includes the following lot numbers and best-before dates:

  • Lot SS223 — Best before 11/08/2026
  • Lot SS110 — Best before 20/04/2027

The product was distributed nationally in Canada, including through online sales.

Why Is the Product Being Recalled?

The affected protein puffs contain milk that is not declared on the label.
