Auxico (Perth) Pty Ltd has issued a recall for LGM Hot Chilli Oil 275g after the discovery of an undeclared peanut allergen in the product. The recall applies only to products that do not list peanuts on the label and affects items sold across Western Australia.
The product was available through Asian supermarkets, independent food retailers including IGA stores, and online retailers in WA.
The recall was initiated because the product contains peanuts that are not declared on the label. Undeclared allergens can pose a serious health risk to individuals with food allergies, as consumers may unknowingly consume the allergen.
People with a peanut allergy or peanut intolerance may experience an allergic reaction if they consume the affected product. Reactions can range from mild symptoms such as itching, hives, and swelling to severe and potentially life-threatening allergic responses in sensitive individuals.
Consumers who are not allergic to peanuts are not expected to be affected by this issue.
Food retailers are advised to remove affected stock from sale and ensure customers are informed of the recall.
The recall applies only to LGM Hot Chilli Oil 275g with best-before dates up to and including 23 January 2027 that do not declare peanuts on the label.
