Multiple pastry products sold under the Andalos brand, along with certain clerk-served items without brand labels, are being recalled due to possible Salmonella contamination. The affected products were sold online and in stores across New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec, including at Boulangerie Andalos in Saint Laurent, QC. The recall includes items sold between June 25, 2025, and July 26, 2025.

Recall Details:
The recall covers a wide range of products such as Baklava Rectangles, Baklava Triangles, Baklava Pistachio varieties, catering trays, and Knafeh Ashta. Some are pre-packaged with UPC codes, while others were sold loose over the counter. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) advises consumers not to consume, use, sell, or distribute any of the recalled products.

Health Risk Information:
Salmonella bacteria can cause illness even when contaminated food looks and smells normal.

  • Mild to Moderate Cases: Symptoms may include fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, typically lasting 4–7 days.

  • Severe Cases: In vulnerable groups such as young children, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems, Salmonella can cause invasive infections that may lead to hospitalization, septicemia, or even death.

  • Possible Long-Term Effects: Some people develop reactive arthritis weeks or months after the initial infection, which can become chronic.

What Consumers Should Do:
Anyone who purchased these products should check the UPC codes or sale dates against the recall list. Items should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. Individuals who think they may have become ill after eating these pastries should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
