The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Yotvata brand Caciotta Peperoncino Cheese due to possible contamination with Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus can produce toxins in food that may cause food poisoning. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, and may develop relatively quickly after consuming contaminated food.
Consumers should not eat the recalled cheese. Retailers and food service establishments should not sell, serve or distribute it.
Consumers are advised to check the product’s UPC, code and best-before date against the recall details. If the product matches, it should not be consumed and should be discarded or returned according to the retailer’s instructions.
