G. L. Mezzetta Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of a specific lot of Mezzetta Golden Greek Peperoncini (Medium Heat) after a consumer reported finding a pest contaminant inside a jar.
The company announced the recall on September 23, 2026, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published the recall notice on September 25, 2026.
The recall is limited to the following product:
Mezzetta said it became aware of a video circulating on social media showing a pest contaminant in a jar of its Greek Peppers. The company contacted the consumer and began an investigation before initiating the voluntary recall.
Consumers who have a 32-ounce jar of Mezzetta Greek Peppers from lot 720106 should not consume the product.
The company has identified customers who received products from the affected lot and is working with them to isolate and remove the recalled products from sale.
Mezzetta said it is retrieving and examining the product involved in the original complaint and reviewing relevant production, sanitation and food-safety records as part of its investigation.
At the time of the recall announcement, no illnesses or injuries had been reported.
Based on the information currently available, the recall applies only to the specified product and lot. No other Mezzetta products or lots are included in the recall.
