New Zealand Food Safety has announced a recall of specific batches of Nestlé Milo Dipped Snack Bars after concerns that the product may contain pieces of rubber, posing a potential choking hazard.
Acting Deputy Director-General of New Zealand Food Safety, Jenny Bishop, said the recall is being carried out in support of Nestlé to protect consumer safety.
“The concern with this product is that rubber pieces could cause choking,” Bishop stated.
Consumers are advised not to consume Nestlé Milo Dipped Snack Bars from the following batches:
Product: Nestlé Milo Dipped Snack Bars
Pack Size: 160g
Batch Numbers: 5316, 5317, 5318 TD15
Best Before Date: August 2026
These snack bars were sold across supermarkets and retail stores nationwide in New Zealand.
New Zealand Food Safety urges customers who have purchased the affected snack bars to take immediate action:
Do not eat the product
Return it to the place of purchase for a full refund
If returning is not possible, dispose of the product safely
Authorities confirmed that no injuries or choking incidents have been reported in connection with the recalled batches.
New Zealand Food Safety will work closely with Nestlé to determine how the contamination occurred and to ensure preventive measures are implemented.
The affected products were manufactured in Australia, and a recall has also been initiated there.
“As is our usual practice, New Zealand Food Safety will work with Nestlé to understand how this happened and prevent its recurrence,” Bishop added.
The recalled snack bars have already been removed from store shelves, and officials confirmed the products were not re-exported outside New Zealand.
Consumers can find photographs and updated recall information on the official New Zealand Food Safety recall page. Authorities also encourage the public to subscribe to recall alerts for timely food safety updates.
