April 11, 2022

Food poisoning is usually happening as result of poor hygiene and wrong food handling practice – the people preparing the food have not washed their hands well enough or have an infection they pass on. It can also occur when the food has not been prepared properly – it is not cooked enough or not stored at the right temperature.

Some food poisoning caused by contamination caused by manufacturing process of food products or contamination from ingredients they received for processing food products. However, most food industries and food regulators implemented robust food safety management system for this process

However, consumer negligence, lack awareness of food handling or its consequence, improper storage or preparation of food such as right temperature for storage or cooking leads to food poisoning

Food poisoning symptoms vary with the source of contamination. Most types of food poisoning cause one or more of the following signs and symptoms:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Watery or bloody diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain and cramps
  • Fever

Signs and symptoms may start within hours after eating the contaminated food, or they may begin days or even weeks later. Sickness caused by food poisoning generally lasts from a few hours to several days.
