Galil Importing Corp. has recalled Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning because the product may contain elevated levels of lead.
The recall was announced and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on September 24, 2026, after a sample tested by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) was found to contain elevated levels of lead.

The recalled cinnamon was distributed between November 18, 2025, and September 7, 2026, to retail stores, grocery stores, delis and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida and Illinois.
Lead exposure can affect multiple bodily systems, and the health effects depend on the amount and duration of exposure as well as a person’s age and body weight.
Short-term exposure to very low levels of lead may not cause noticeable symptoms, while higher or prolonged exposure can increase blood lead levels. Children are particularly vulnerable to prolonged lead exposure, which can cause serious and potentially permanent effects on the nervous system and development.
No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled cinnamon to date.
Galil Importing Corp. initiated the voluntary recall after the MDH sample testing detected elevated lead levels. The company has notified customers to stop distributing and selling the affected product and place remaining inventory on hold.
The company has also started an investigation into its supplier and said it has implemented enhanced testing and supplier verification measures to help prevent a recurrence.
Consumers who have the recalled Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning, lot GAP11304, should not consume the product.
The product should either be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.
