Two Co-op Gold frozen chicken products have been recalled in Canada because they contain egg that is not declared on the label, posing a risk to people with an egg allergy.
The affected products include Co-op Gold Chicken Burgers and Co-op Gold Maple & Brown Sugar Bacon Wrapped Chicken Bites.
The recall was updated on 14 September 2026 and applies to products distributed across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon.
The following Co-op Gold products are affected:
The products are being recalled because egg is not properly declared on the label.
For people with an egg allergy, consuming a product containing undeclared egg can trigger an allergic reaction. Symptoms may range from relatively mild reactions such as hives, swelling, itching, abdominal discomfort, vomiting or difficulty breathing to a severe, potentially life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis.
People who are allergic to egg should therefore avoid consuming the recalled products even if they have previously eaten the same product without experiencing a reaction.
Consumers should check their freezers for the affected Co-op Gold products and verify the product size, UPC and lot codes against the recall information.
Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the recalled products.
Retailers, restaurants and other food businesses should also check their inventories and ensure that affected products are removed from sale or service.
Consumers who have eaten a recalled product and experience symptoms of an allergic reaction should seek appropriate medical attention.
