Ofood Mild Ssamjang Original Seasoned Soybean Paste has been recalled across Canada because it contains peanut that is not properly declared on the bilingual label.
The recall affects the product in 170 g, 500 g and 1 kg sizes and applies to all codes where peanut is not declared on the label.
The affected products are being removed from the Canadian marketplace due to the improper declaration of peanut, a priority food allergen.
People with a peanut allergy or sensitivity should not consume the recalled products. Exposure to peanut can cause an allergic reaction, which may range from mild symptoms such as hives and swelling to a potentially serious or life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis.
Consumers should check their kitchens for the recalled Ofood Mild Ssamjang products and not consume them if they have a peanut allergy or sensitivity.
The recalled products should not be served, used, sold or distributed. Consumers can throw the products away or return them to the place of purchase.
Consumers who do not have a peanut allergy or sensitivity are not affected by the undeclared-allergen risk, but the recalled products should still not be sold or distributed.
