Fresh & Ready Foods LLC Recalls Spicy Breakfast Burrito Due to Undeclared Soy | Business | rutlandherald.com

Fresh & Ready Foods LLC has recalled two brands of Spicy Breakfast Burritos after discovering they may contain undeclared soy, a major food allergen. The recall was initiated after sausage was mistakenly included in products labeled as vegetarian.

The recall was announced on 22 July 2026.

The affected products are:

  1. Sprig & Sprout Spicy Breakfast Burrito
    • Size: 8.3 oz (234 g)
    • UPC: 1 00001 00029 7
    • Fresh Thru Date: 07/20/2026
  2. Fresh & Ready Spicy Breakfast Burrito
    • Size: 8.2 oz (232 g)
    • UPC: 1 00001 00029 7
    • Fresh Thru Date: 07/20/2026

The recalled products were manufactured between July 9 and July 12, 2026, at the company’s Charlotte, North Carolina facility.

Distribution

The affected burritos were distributed to grab-and-go markets and vending machines in the following U.S. states:

  • Alabama
  • Georgia
  • Kentucky
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia
  • West Virginia

No other products manufactured at the Charlotte facility or at any other Fresh & Ready Foods LLC production sites are affected by this recall.

Reason for the Recall

The recall was initiated after two customer complaints reported finding sausage inside products that were labeled as vegetarian.

The accidental inclusion of sausage introduced soy, a major food allergen, into the burritos. Because soy was not declared on the product label, the products pose a health risk to individuals with a soy allergy or severe sensitivity.

Additionally, consumers who avoid meat for dietary, religious, or ethical reasons are advised not to consume the recalled products because they contain sausage despite being marketed as vegetarian.

Health Risk

People with a soy allergy or severe sensitivity may experience serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the affected burritos.

As of the recall announcement, no illnesses or allergic reactions had been reported.

Consumer Advice

Consumers who have purchased the recalled breakfast burritos should not eat them. Individuals with a soy allergy should dispose of the products or return them according to the retailer’s instructions.

Consumers who do not eat meat should also avoid consuming these products due to the unintended presence of sausage.

Fresh & Ready Foods LLC initiated the recall to protect consumers and ensure that products are accurately labeled for both allergen safety and dietary expectations.
