Auricchio brand Gorgonzola D.O.P. Piccante cheese has been recalled in Canada due to contamination with Listeriosis-causing bacteria, Listeria monocytogenes, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The recall was triggered following routine inspection activities by CFIA. As of now, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product.
The affected cheese has a relatively long shelf life, raising concerns that consumers may still have it stored at home. Authorities have advised consumers not to consume, use, sell, or distribute the recalled product.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not show visible signs of spoilage but can still pose serious health risks.
Symptoms of Listeriosis may include:

Certain populations are more vulnerable to severe illness:
Even mild flu-like symptoms in pregnant women can lead to serious complications for the fetus or newborn.
Anyone who has consumed the recalled product and experiences symptoms should seek medical attention and inform healthcare providers about possible Listeria exposure.
