Several ready-to-eat salami products sold under the Zaroa NZ brand have been recalled due to a lack of required food safety controls, according to New Zealand Food Safety.

The recall was initiated on February 20, 2026, by MeatUP Limited, trading as Zaroa NZ. Authorities confirmed that the products have not been exported and were distributed only within New Zealand.

All products are packaged in vacuum-sealed plastic.

• Pegasus Bay Winery (Waipara)

• Zaroa NZ stall at Parnell Farmers’ Market (Auckland)

• Zaroa NZ online store

Health Risk and Advisory

While there have been no reports of illness, the recall was initiated due to non-compliance with mandatory food safety controls. Authorities advise consumers not to consume the affected products.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled salami should return it to the retailer for a full refund. Anyone experiencing health concerns after consumption is advised to seek medical advice.

Retailers who sold the affected products are required to display an official point-of-sale recall notice in-store for one month.
