Reduced to Clear Limited has issued a recall of specific batches of Piper’s brand Milkshake Biscuits in Original and Caramel flavours after discovering the presence of an undeclared allergen – pistachio. The recall applies to products sold at Reduced to Clear stores nationwide in New Zealand.

Both varieties are packaged in 120g cardboard boxes, and no other Piper’s products are included in this recall.
Testing identified the unlisted presence of pistachio, a tree nut allergen that was not declared on the label. This oversight poses a serious health risk to individuals with pistachio or tree nut allergies or intolerances.
For people allergic to pistachios, even small amounts can cause mild to severe allergic reactions. Symptoms may include itching, hives, swelling of the lips or throat, difficulty breathing, and gastrointestinal distress. In extreme cases, exposure can lead to anaphylaxis, a potentially life-threatening reaction that requires urgent medical attention.
Those who have consumed the affected biscuits and experience any symptoms should seek medical advice immediately.
Consumers are urged to check the best-before dates on their biscuit boxes. Anyone with a pistachio allergy or intolerance should not consume these products. Affected items can be returned to Reduced to Clear stores for a full refund. Customers who are not allergic to pistachio are not impacted by this recall.
Reduced to Clear Limited has confirmed its cooperation with New Zealand Food Safety to remove the affected batches from all retail locations. Retailers have been instructed to display recall notices in stores for one month to alert consumers.
