Deep Brand Products Recalled Over Salmonella Risk

Vimms Enterprise Limited, in consultation with New Zealand Food Safety, has recalled several Deep brand frozen products due to the possible presence of Salmonella. The recall was first announced on 28 August 2025 for Deep Sprouted Mat, Sprouted Moong, and Surti Undhiu Mix, covering all batches and dates. On 16 September 2025, the recall was updated to also include Deep brand Green Garlic (340g, batch IN25151K, Use by 29 NOV 2026).

Health Risk
Salmonella is a harmful bacteria that can cause foodborne illness. Symptoms usually appear within 6–72 hours after exposure and may include:

  • Diarrhea (sometimes bloody)

  • Abdominal cramps

  • Fever, nausea, and vomiting

In vulnerable groups such as young children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with weakened immunity, infection can lead to more severe complications, including bloodstream infection or hospitalization.

Distribution

  • Imported from India
  • Sold at ethnic supermarkets nationwide and via Vimms Enterprise Limited’s online store
  • Products have not been re-exported

Consumer Advice

  • Do not consume the affected products unless cooked thoroughly (piping hot throughout).
  • Return the recalled items to the place of purchase for a full refund.
  • If you have eaten any of the products and experience symptoms, seek medical attention.
