Chetak Melbourne Pty Ltd has issued a product recall for its Deep Sprouted Moong (454g) and Deep Sprouted Mat (454g) sold in Indian grocery stores across Victoria (VIC). The recall applies to all use-by dates, due to potential Salmonella contamination, a serious microbial food safety hazard.

Products Under Recall:

  • Deep Sprouted Moong (454g)

  • Deep Sprouted Mat (454g)
    Brand: Deep
Sold exclusively in Indian grocery stores in VIC
All batches and expiry dates are affected

Health Risk Details:
Salmonella is a harmful bacteria that can cause serious foodborne illness, especially when consumed through raw or undercooked foods like sprouts. The danger is heightened because the bacteria can multiply rapidly in moist, warm conditions—ideal environments for sprouted products.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection may include:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Diarrhea (sometimes bloody)
  • Headache

Most healthy individuals recover within 4 to 7 days without treatment, but infants, elderly people, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems are at increased risk of severe illness or complications, such as dehydration or bloodstream infections.

Consumer Instructions:
Consumers are urged not to consume the affected products. Return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. If you have already eaten the product and feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately.
