Dunnes Stores Recalls Luxury Apple Pie Due to Undeclared Almonds

June 22, 2025 United Kingdom

Undeclared almonds in batch of mispacked Dunnes Stores Luxury Apple Pie | Food Safety Authority of Ireland

Dunnes Stores has issued an urgent recall of its Luxury Apple Pie (750g) sold in Northern Ireland after a packaging error led to a serious undeclared allergen risk. Certain packs labeled as “Apple Pie” were mistakenly filled with Luxury Pear and Almond Pie, which contains nuts (almonds)—not declared on the packaging.

This poses a serious health risk for individuals with a nut allergy, and the recall has been classified as a precautionary measure by the relevant food authorities.

Why It’s Being Recalled

The recall was triggered after it was discovered that some Apple Pie packages actually contain Pear and Almond Pie—a completely different product. Almonds are a major food allergen, and their absence from the label violates allergy safety regulations and puts allergic consumers at risk of severe reactions, including anaphylaxis.

These measures are intended to prevent further sales and raise awareness among consumers at risk.
