In Spain, a few people have become ill as a result of eating a certain brand of mushrooms. Two incidents

of Staphylococcal food poisoning have been connected to mushrooms in olive oil in glass jars from the El

Agricultor brand. Eating food tainted with toxins created by the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria results in

staphylococcal food poisoning. Officials in the La Rioja region reportedly told the Spanish Agency for

Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) about the occurrence.

Associated product:

The 180-gram jar of Hongos Fritos en Aceite de oliva that is impacted has a lot number of February 2,

2021, and a date of February 2, 2026. The brands Emperatriz, Huerta Real, Boletus, Lierni, and Radvi are

also included in an enlarged recall. It is distributed in Navarra, the Basque Country, Asturias, Catalonia,

Castilla-La Mancha, the Canary Islands, and La Rioja, etc.

Consumer Advice:

  • If you have such a product, return it to the store where you bought it.
  • The organization also recommended getting medical attention if anyone who consumed the contaminated batch experienced symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or stomach pain.
  • The signs of staphylococcal food poisoning often appear between 30 minutes and eight hours after consuming contaminated food or beverages.
  • Water consumption is the most crucial component of treatment.
  • Cooking destroys Staphylococcus aureus germs, but the toxins are not eliminated and can still make people sick.

The media website does not provide information on how products are distributed outside of Spain. The

Centre for Food Safety (CFS) is seeking more information from the appropriate authorities and is looking

into whether the impacted items have been imported to Hong Kong. Initial research did not reveal any

evidence concerning products being imported or sold locally.

Histamine Tuna:

Following two illnesses in Spain, AESAN has also issued a warning regarding the presence of histamine in

a frozen Italian tuna pizza. Valencia’s health department issued a warning via the SCIRI system regarding

pizzas sold under the Consum brand. The product was made by Mantua Surgelati in Italy. The affected

370-gram pizzas have lot codes NE16, NE25, NE09, NF27, NF23, NG08, NB17, NB24, NC03, and NH05.
