The Singapore Food Agency and Ministry of Health are investigating two cases of gastroenteritis that affect 284 people. After consuming the food prepared by Rasel Catering between 8 to 16 November 2022, they reported gastroenteritis. But none of them were hospitalized. They received outpatient treatment, and self-medication and few recovered without any treatment.

The company prepares meals for occasions like weddings and Christmas. It has won various honors, including the Prestige Brand Award from numerous Brands in Singapore in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2016, according to its website.

Singapore Food Agency has suspended the food business of Rasel Catering which is located at 253 pandan Loop Singapore 128432 with effect from November 18, 2022, until further notice. The business must also remove all ready-to-eat food and perishable food products from the premises. Clean and sanitize the space, including the furniture and utensils, and equipment.

All employees who handle food are required to retake and complete the Level 1 Food Safety Course as well as pass a foodborne pathogen test. Before returning to work as a Food Hygiene Officer, the designated person must retake and pass the Food Safety Course Level 3.

SFA advises food service providers to always follow good hygiene practices for both food and themselves. Anyone found to be in violation of the Environmental Public Health Act will be dealt with harshly by SFA.

They encourage people to report poor hygiene practices in eating establishments to SFA via the online feedback form so that they can conduct follow-up investigations. This is done in the interest of maintaining a high standard of food hygiene at all eating establishments.
