Nearly 23,000 Pounds of Ground Beef Recalled Over E. coli

March 21, 2026

Nearly 23,000 pounds of raw ground beef have been recalled in the United States due to potential contamination with Escherichia coli O145, according to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recall was initiated by CS Beef Packers LLC, based in Kuna, Idaho. The company is recalling 22,912 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with the harmful bacterium.

Product Details

The recalled products were produced on January 14, 2026, and were subsequently frozen. The affected items include:

  • Cardboard cases containing eight 10-lb chubs of “BEEF, COARSE GROUND, 73L” with case code 18601 and Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26.
  • Cardboard cases containing four 10-lb chubs of “FIRE RIVER FARMS CLASSIC BEEF FINE GROUND 73L” with case code 19583 and Use/Freeze By: 02/04/26.

All recalled products carry the establishment number “EST. 630” inside the United States Department of Agriculture inspection mark. Time stamps between 07:03 and 08:32 are printed on stickers placed on the outside of the case and directly on the packaging of the chubs.

Distribution

The recalled ground beef was shipped to distributors in California, Idaho, and Oregon, and may have been further distributed to foodservice establishments.

Reason for Recall

The issue was identified after testing conducted by FSIS at a downstream customer detected the presence of E. coli O145 in the product.

Health Risk

As of the announcement, no confirmed illnesses linked to the recalled products have been reported. However, infection with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli can cause symptoms such as severe stomach cramps, diarrhea (often bloody), and vomiting. Anyone experiencing symptoms should seek medical advice.

Consumer and Foodservice Advice

FSIS warns that some of the recalled products may still be stored in foodservice freezers. Foodservice operators are advised not to serve the affected products. The products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
