Nearly 2,000 pounds of ready-to-eat holiday kielbasa sausage have been recalled in the United States after a consumer reportedly discovered an inch-long piece of metal in the product.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), approximately 1,930 pounds of sausage produced by Olympia Provisions, a Portland-based company, may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically metal. FSIS confirmed that the metal fragments identified were roughly 1.25 inches in length.
The issue came to light after Olympia Provisions notified FSIS of a consumer complaint regarding metal found in the product. At this time, no confirmed injuries or adverse reactions related to the recalled sausages have been reported.
The affected sausages were manufactured on October 14, 2025, and distributed to retail locations in California, Oregon, and Washington. The product was also sold nationwide through the company’s direct-to-consumer online platform.
The recalled item is sold in 16-ounce vacuum-sealed plastic packages labeled “OLYMPIA PROVISIONS UNCURED HOLIDAY KIELBASA” with a “Best If Used By” date of February 19, 2026. The packaging bears the establishment number “EST. 39928” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
FSIS has advised consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers for the affected product. Consumers who have purchased the recalled kielbasa are urged not to consume it and to either discard the product or return it to the place of purchase.
Consumers with questions regarding the recall or food safety concerns can contact the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854 or email MPHotline@usda.gov.
Olympia Provisions stated that it is cooperating fully with regulatory authorities as the investigation continues.
