
Olympia Provisions of Portland, Oregon, has issued a recall of approximately 1,930 pounds of ready-to-eat holiday kielbasa sausages after a consumer complaint reported the presence of metal fragments in the product, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
FSIS has expressed concern that some of the affected products may still be stored in consumer refrigerators or freezers. As a precaution, consumers who purchased the recalled kielbasa are urged not to consume it.
The recalled product was shipped to retail locations in California, Oregon, and Washington. It was also sold nationwide through online direct-to-consumer sales, increasing the likelihood that the product may still be in households across the country.
The issue was identified after Olympia Provisions notified FSIS that it had received a consumer complaint alleging metal contamination in the kielbasa. While no confirmed injuries have been reported to date, metal fragments in food can pose a risk of injury if consumed.
