New Zealand Food Safety has issued a recall of various Tasti brand snack products after small metal pieces were discovered in some batches. The recall, first announced on 20 September 2025, was expanded on 23 September 2025 to include additional best-before dates. The products were widely distributed across New Zealand and some were also exported to Australia.

Products Affected
The recall covers a wide range of Tasti snacks, including:

1. Tasti Smooshed bars and tubs such as Berry Cashew & Cacao, Cacao Brownie, Peanut Butter & Caramel, and Protein Brownies
2. Tasti Snak Logs in Apricot and Fruit & Nut varieties
3. Other Tasti snacks like Chopped Peanuts and Nut Bar Deluxe
4. Frooze Filled Balls and Frooze Snack Balls in several flavors including Caramel Choc PB, Choc Hazelnut, Cookie Dough, Lemon Cheesecake, Raspberry Dark Choc, and Cranberry

These products carry various best-before dates extending into 2026, which are detailed in the official recall notice.

Health Risk
Ingesting metal fragments can pose a serious safety risk. Even small pieces may cause:

• Cuts or lacerations in the mouth or throat

• Damage to teeth or dental work

• Internal injury to the digestive tract if swallowed

Although no injuries have been reported so far, New Zealand Food Safety advises consumers not to consume the affected products. Anyone experiencing discomfort or health concerns after consumption should seek medical advice immediately.

• Sold at supermarkets and retailers across New Zealand
• Some products exported to Australia
• Other Tasti products remain unaffected
