Reason for Recall
The affected tahini products may be contaminated with Salmonella, a harmful bacterium that can cause serious illness. Importantly, contaminated food may not look, smell, or taste spoiled, making the risk harder to detect for consumers.

Health Risks
Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) typically causes short-term symptoms, including fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Most healthy individuals recover without treatment, but vulnerable groups—including young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems—may experience severe illness that could lead to hospitalization. In rare cases, long-term complications, such as severe arthritis, can occur after an infection.

What Consumers Should Do

  • Do not consume the recalled products.
  • Check your pantry for affected batches and return them to the store where they were purchased or dispose of them safely.
  • If you have eaten the recalled tahini and are experiencing symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.
  • Retailers, restaurants, and distributors should not sell, serve, or use the affected product.
