Ballymaguire Foods has issued a massive recall of a wide range of ready meals and side dishes sold under various brands, including Clean Cut, Good Food Locally Sourced, Signature Taste, SuperValu, and Tesco Meals Made Easy. The recall is due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious illness, especially in vulnerable groups. The recall applies to all batch codes and all use-by dates across numerous products sold in Northern Ireland.

What Products Are Affected?
The recall spans dozens of items, including popular dishes like:

  1. Chicken Curry, Spaghetti Bolognese, Cottage Pie, Paella, Thai Green Curry
  2. Mac & Cheese, Carbonara Pasta Bake, Chicken Tikka & Rice, Beef Lasagne
  3. Various potato sides, burrito bowls, and noodle dishes

All affected products carry no restriction by batch or date, meaning consumers should check all Clean Cut, Good Food Locally Sourced, and other listed meals in their fridge or freezer.

Health Risk Information:
Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious foodborne illness. Though symptoms may resemble the flu—fever, chills, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea—severe complications may include meningitis or even death in high-risk individuals.

Groups most at risk include:

  • Adults over 65
  • Pregnant women and unborn babies
  • Infants under one month
  • Immunocompromised individuals (e.g., cancer, transplant patients)

Listeria can survive and grow at refrigerated temperatures, making ready-to-eat and chilled foods particularly risky when contaminated.

What You Should Do:

  1. Do not consume any of the recalled products, even if they appear fine
  2. Return them to the place of purchase for a full refund
  3. If you have already eaten any of these meals and feel unwell, contact a healthcare professional promptly
