London Wholesalers Ltd has recalled BOSS Sugar Free Persian Pistachio Nougat after Salmonella was detected in the product. The recall applies to products sold in England and Northern Ireland.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned that the presence of Salmonella poses a potential health risk, particularly to vulnerable individuals such as young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.
The affected product details are as follows:
Salmonella infection can cause symptoms including fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. The FSA advises that individuals experiencing these symptoms should avoid work, school, or childcare settings until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours, to prevent the spread of infection.
As part of the recall, point-of-sale notices will be displayed in stores where the product was sold, informing customers about the recall and providing instructions on what to do if they have purchased the affected product.
Consumers who have bought the recalled nougat are advised not to eat it. Instead, the product should be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.
For further information, consumers can contact London Wholesalers Ltd at 0208 965 0211 or via email at info@london-wholesalers.co.uk.
Food recalls are issued when products may pose a risk to consumer health, either through contamination or mislabelling. The Food Standards Agency publishes Product Recall Information Notices to keep consumers and local authorities informed and to ensure appropriate action is taken.
