Health Risks of Salmonella
Salmonella infection can cause illness ranging from mild discomfort to severe, life-threatening disease. Most people develop diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps within 6 hours to 6 days of exposure. Recovery generally takes 4–7 days without treatment, but complications can arise.

High-risk groups include:

  • Children under 5 years
  • Adults over 65 years
  • Pregnant women
  • Individuals with weakened immune systems

Severe cases may involve high fever, persistent diarrhea, bloody stools, dehydration, or hospitalization. If untreated, Salmonella can spread to the bloodstream, leading to invasive infections.

What You Should Do

  • Discard or return recalled eggs immediately
  • Wash hands, kitchen surfaces, and utensils that may have come in contact with the eggs
  • Seek medical care if you experience prolonged or severe symptoms such as high fever, bloody diarrhea, or dehydration

For Businesses

  • Stop selling or serving recalled eggs
  • Clean and sanitize any storage or preparation areas that may have come in contact with the products
