Nutrient Rescue NZ Ltd has issued a voluntary recall for specific batches of its popular Double Shot plant-based powder products due to the potential presence of an undeclared allergen — mollusc. This recall affects various pack sizes sold across New Zealand through retail stores and online platforms.

The presence of mollusc in a plant-based product is unexpected and poses a significant health risk to consumers with mollusc allergies or intolerances. Individuals allergic to molluscs may experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the affected products.

Products Affected

The recall involves the following Nutrient Rescue Double Shot products:

  • Individual sachet (10g)
    Batch: NRC0715
    Best Before: 12/02/2026

  • 30-pack of 10g sachets
    Batch: NRC0715
    Best Before: 12/02/2026

  • 300g plastic pouch
    Best Before Dates:
    25FEB26, 26FEB26, 27FEB26, 20MAR26, 21MAR26, 24MAR26, 02APR26, 03APR26

  • 900g family pack (plastic pouch)
    Best Before Dates:
    01APR26, 02APR26

These products are sold in distinctive green and pink packaging — individual sachets are packed in paper, while the 300g and 900g packs come in resealable plastic pouches.

Distribution

The recalled products were available:

  • At selected supermarkets, pharmacies, retail, and health stores
  • Through the Nutrient Rescue online store
  • No exports have been reported

This recall does not affect any other products under the Nutrient Rescue brand.

Health Risk

For consumers with a mollusc allergy or intolerance, ingesting these products can cause reactions such as swelling, hives, vomiting, abdominal cramps, or in severe cases, anaphylaxis — a medical emergency requiring immediate attention.

If you are not allergic or intolerant to molluscs, this recall does not pose a health risk to you.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers who have purchased any of the affected products should:

  1. Check the batch numbers and best-before dates carefully
  2. Stop consuming the product immediately if you are allergic or intolerant to molluscs
  3. Return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund
  4. If symptoms occur after consuming the product, seek medical attention immediately

Retailers are required to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores for at least one month to ensure customer awareness.
