Natural Pastures Cheese Company has expanded its recall of Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The recall now includes additional batch codes and affects products distributed in British Columbia and Ontario. This action follows an earlier recall notice issued on July 21, 2025.

Consumers, retailers, and food service establishments are advised to stop using, selling, serving, or distributing the affected cheese immediately.

Health Risk Information:
Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous foodborne bacterium. While the contaminated cheese may appear normal (with no obvious signs of spoilage), it can still cause serious illness.

Common symptoms include:

  • Vomiting, nausea
  • Persistent fever
  • Muscle aches
  • Severe headache and stiff neck

Vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems are at particular risk. In pregnant women, even mild symptoms can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn infection. In rare but severe cases, listeriosis can be fatal.
