Aldi’s Taco Dinner Kits Recalled Over Dangerous Milk Allergen Mislabeling

Taco kits sold at Aldi and other retailers recalled over 'life-threatening' mix-up - al.com

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a nationwide recall of certain Casa Mamita and Martin’s/Giant brand taco dinner kits, produced by Texas-based Teasdale Foods, Inc., due to undeclared milk in the seasoning packets. This recall was triggered after consumer complaints revealed that cocoa mix packets were mistakenly packed instead of taco seasoning, resulting in undeclared milk allergens in the product.

Why This Recall Matters
Undeclared milk poses a serious health risk, especially for individuals with milk allergies or lactose intolerance. In severe cases, even trace amounts can cause life-threatening allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis — a rapid and potentially fatal condition that can lead to difficulty breathing, low blood pressure, and shock if not treated immediately. For those with milder sensitivities, symptoms can include skin hives, swelling of the lips or throat, nausea, vomiting, or severe abdominal cramps.

Details of the Affected Products
The recalled taco kits were sold at Aldi, Giant, and Martin’s stores across multiple U.S. states including New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and others.

  • Martin’s and Giant Crunchy Taco Dinner Kit

  • Packaging: Purple box
  • UPC: 68826757516
  • Lot Code: 25257
  • Best if used by: March 13, 2026
  • Casa Mamita Soft Taco Dinner Kit (Aldi)

  • Packaging: Blue and yellow box
  • UPC: 4099100318715
  • Lot Code: 25259
  • Best if used by: March 15, 2026

The issue originated from a third-party seasoning supplier that mislabeled the seasoning packets, leading to cross-packaging errors.

What Consumers Should Do
Consumers are strongly advised not to consume the affected taco kits, regardless of whether they have a milk allergy. Even without symptoms, the risk of contamination remains. The products should be returned to the store of purchase for a full refund.

No illnesses have been reported so far, but anyone who has consumed the recalled products and experiences symptoms of an allergic reaction should seek immediate medical attention.
