Straus Family Creamery Issues Voluntary Ice Cream Recall - The New York Times

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a voluntary nationwide recall of select production runs of Straus Family Creamery Organic Super Premium Ice Cream products due to the possible presence of foreign material, specifically metal fragments.

The recalled ice cream products were distributed to retailers across 17 U.S. states beginning May 4, 2026. States affected include Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Consumers are advised to check the flavor, container size, UPC code, and “best by” dates listed below:

The affected products were packaged in paper containers with a seal and lid. The “best by” date is printed in black on the outside bottom of the container.

Health Risk

The recall was initiated after concerns that metal fragments may be present in the affected ice cream products. Consumption of food contaminated with metal fragments can pose a risk of injury to the mouth, teeth, throat, or digestive tract.

As of now, no injuries or illnesses related to the recalled products have been reported.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers who purchased the affected ice cream products are urged not to consume them. The company advises customers to discard the products immediately or return them to the place of purchase.

Consumers may also request a replacement voucher through Straus Family Creamery.
