Willy Pete’s Chocolate Company LLC of Harwinton has issued a recall of its Almond Despair chocolate bar due to the presence of undeclared almonds, posing a potential health risk to consumers with almond allergies.
According to the recall notice, the product’s ingredient statement incorrectly lists macadamia nuts, while almonds are present but not declared on the label. Consumers with almond allergies or severe sensitivities may experience serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if the product is consumed.
The recall was announced by the company on December 22, 2025, and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 23, 2025 as a public safety notice. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.
