Health Risk: Listeria monocytogenes

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause:

  • Mild flu-like symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, and fatigue
  • Gastrointestinal issues including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • In severe cases, serious complications may arise, especially for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals

The incubation period ranges from 3 to 70 days, with an average of 3 weeks before symptoms appear.
